The Importance of Your Voice
Greetings!

At The Sound Center, we help you enhance your voice because you have a lot to say.  Your voice is a tool you probably rely on heavily to accomplish many of your tasks and goals.  It is usually reliable, but what do you do when your voice is weakened by an illness or overuse?  At this time of year, take a moment to care for your voice by reading the article "Top Tips for Vocal Endurance."

Announcing our Accent Modification Curriculum!  If you know someone with a heavy foreign accent, we have a new way to help!  We have designed a unique, 5-part course with ongoing registration.  Read on for more information.

Sincerely,
Michelle Eppley
Tips for Vocal Endurance
If your career requires you to speak, you are a professional voice user!  You need to take special measures to keep your voice in top shape.  Here are some tips you can put to use immediately:
  • Wash your hands -- be vigilant!  Now that the weather is colder and we're indoors more, the season of colds and flus is upon us.  This simple task can make a huge difference!
  • Stay hydrated by drinking enough water and using a humidifier if possible.
  • Be careful with the medications you take.  Many medications have drying effects.  Visit this website to see a list of the 200 most commonly prescribed medications and their effects on the voice at the National Center for Voice and Speech website.
  • Be smart when you use your voice!  We train people to use their voices in the most efficient way possible, so they can make it through their demanding schedules without hoarseness or discomfort.  Contact us at info@thesoundcenter.com for more information
Accent Modification Curriculum 2007-2008 with ongoing registration

This unique program will take place between November 2007 and March 2008. With three meetings each month and options for further intensive work, participants will have the chance to practice new skills in-between sessions. Class size is limited in order to provide individualized feedback and guidance.

Note:  Program begins on November 5th.  However, registration is ongoing.  Drop us a line and join us anytime!

Each month, a different topic will be covered. A monthly pre-screening and post-test will allow you to clearly demonstrate your progress. The topics to be covered are as follows:

November 2007: Foundations

December 2007: Intonation

January 2008: Vowels

February 2008: Consonants

March 2008: Putting It All Together for Polished Presentations

Though the entire course is recommended, individual topics can be taken when space is available. Additionally, participants who travel and have to miss meetings have the option of making up sessions for a discounted fee. Contact us at info@thesoundcenter.com for more information.
